A stunning hard cover coffee table book displaying a collection of breathtaking images showing the uniqueness of South Africa's

Beth and Willie Engelbrecht, as volunteer rangers supporting SANParks, hold a special place in their hearts for the Karoo and Bushmanland.

Within this book they capture the stories of the people who once lived on farms, sacrificed for the Square Kilometre Array scientific project. The loss of inheritance and a way of living, symbolised by empty farmhouses and silent graves, drove them to provide solace for those affected. The quest was to recognise the families who thrived in the harsh Karoo environments, where hard work and hope in their Creator sustained them through scarcity and waiting for the rains.
Willie, with expertise in ecology and geology, 4x4 instructor and an environmental educator, teamed up with Beth, a medical doctor passionate about people and their stories. Together, they built relationships that allowed them to share pictures and anecdotes for this book on the Meerkat National Park.

A Spirited History
Touching our feelings and thoughts
Amid the desolate plains and majestic mountains
Nearing the living soul of the place
Knowing the vibrant past, experiencing the placid present
Walking in the footsteps of those gone before
And always in the heart of peace
